Framing of View

Framing of View
Nikon D80 with Nikkor 18-105vr at 18mm; ISO 200, 1/10sec at f/9

It was in Hue, the historic city of Vietnam. Being the capital of ancient dynasties hundred of years ago, the traditional architecture of space planning, construction and detailing are revitalised in front of my eyes.

The use of architecture language, framing of view, is intensively used in the overall planning of the palace; inside to outside, outside to inside, landscape architecture, and the transition spaces.

Heavy rain just stopped, and this frame of view, with the reflection of the tree caught my attention. I indulged myself in the serenity presented, blended into the integration of balance and symmetry of forms and lights.

Harmony, colours and balance in Putrajaya

family in putra

Nikon D80 with Nikkor 18-105vr at 105mm; ISO 100, 1/320sec at f/8

It was a late start during the 1st Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloonn Fiesta, and I noticed this family of mum, and two kids were waiting by the lake looking up to the sky. Loving the harmony of the mum-children bond presented within this tranquil scene, and also the balance of colours.

I took the first shoot, the girl heard my shutter and looked back, I quicky snapped this shoot.

Way of life in Vietnam.

Daily life of Vietnam

Nikon D80 with Nikkor 18-105vr at 30mm; ISO 200, 1/10sec at f/9

I was in Hanoi during my trip in Vietnam in May.

I was in Old Quarter, walking back to the guesthouse, and was amazed with the way they conserve the traditional architecture, which is widely known as "tube architecture", made known from the narrow ground floor planning and high building height.

Conservation of architecture, not only the physical, but also the activities, which they are doing pretty impressive. There are still active of old trades in Old Quarter, Hanoi, smitchy, carpentry, traditional coffee shops, tailoring and others.

It is a street of bamboo industry next to the guesthouse, hadn't started the business when I went out in the early morning. However it was then full of pedestrian, motorcycles along the street during evening time.

I enjoyed the vigor happening over there, which I noticed this static lady sitting in front of her shop in contrary. On the second look, I framing this composition of her husband working hard, while her daughter is playing around her.

Her face is emotionless, looking at the traffic, yet did not really have a focal point. Does it a depiction of the traditional life cycle of Vietnamese? Married at young age, settling down with family, yet, those aren't what they want to pursuit in life.

Maybe not only them, but many of us. But, that's life.
